Finished Project...

I really like how this turned out. Even though I bought the wrong stain, I didn't think it was going to be as dark as it is.  But I think all put together it looks really good. I'm really proud of myself for doing this! and the good news is it only cost me 28.00! Not bad considering the ones at the store are like 50.00+
Anyways, here's how it turned out...

~New Project~

I've wanted to do a crafty project that would also serve as home decor. I would absolutely love to make my own home decor! So I thought I'd start off with this small project. I've always liked these sunburst wall hangings, but some of them are way expensive! So I searched around and I found on this blog http://www.twenty-six-to-life.com/search/label/DIY that showed how to make one of your very own. I thought to myself, well I have a round mirror, so all I'd need is the Shims and wreath things and stain... It wouldn't cost me too much.to make one. So I'm going to go for it! It's seems simple enough so I'm gonna go shopping for the supplies tonight and then start on it tomorrow. I'll post pics when I'm done.

My Love and Life...

I want to take the time to tell you all how much I love Greg! This man is such an amazing person! Here are some things about Greg that I would love to share.

-He comes from a family of 10, including him.  Two brothers (twins) died at birth, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.
-He hates being stuck inside, any excuse to get him outside and he's game.
-One of his favorite places to go is Lake Powell. When he was little his family would go every year for two weeks straight.
-He's really good at skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding, and loves tubing.
-He's also a dare-devil and loves to jump off cliffs.
-When he was younger he was always by his dad's side watching him build computers, cars, motors, anything you name it.
-He built his first computer, all by himself, when he was 10 or 12... oops can't remember... but still that's pretty good!
-He's had more cars in his life then an 100 year old man! Seriously he's been given cars left and right. When he was living at home he'd receive a beater car, fix it up and sell it.
- He's also had a couple of motorcycles and a dirt bike. All of which he did his own mechanics on.
-He has had 8 jobs since he was 15! Godfathers pizza, KFC, Janitorial work at an elementary school, Macey's Grocery (Sandy Macey's, and West Jordan), Chili's, Pepsi Co., NBS, Auto Zone. Those aren't counting the little side job's he'd do here and there for extra money, or just for the fun of it.
-He is the most hard working man ever! He works so hard for his family!
-He is a Genius!
-His favorite color is blue.
-He loves his two little girls like crazy! And they know exactly how to get their way when they're around him.
-He sacrifices so much for me and the girls.
-He loves to build anything, Houses, airplanes, computers, car motors,
-He can fix anything! I'm not even exaggerating... Sometimes I call him my little Martha Stewart! :) He absolutely hates when I say that. Hehe. but I'll be doing crafts, scrapbooking, sewing, hair, home decor... etc, and start having problems with something and he'll come over and take over for a bit and fix it/figure out what I need to do to make it work.
-He ties bows better then me.
-He reminds me of Tim the tool man Taylor... Always wanting more power! :) except when he "soup's things up they don't blow up!"
-He loves Tool's

That's only a few of what he can do. I tell him that he amazes me with everything that he knows. I don't know how he does it, but he does every day...
I Love him so much, words cannot describe how much he means to me. I don't know what I'd do without him with me. He makes me a better person. I love how he works so hard for our family, how he sacrifices so much of his time for us. I don't know what more to say, he's such a special person to me, and I'm glad he's mine forever.  I LOVE YOU GREG! Always and Forever!

Vacation!

We went on vacation from Wednesday to Sunday! It was seriously just what I needed, what my little family needed. We went to Blanding Utah and Monticello Utah. We have Family that lives in both of these little towns. My Grandparents are currently on their mission in Ecuador, they have about 10 acres in between Monticello and Blanding. While on their mission their poor property took quite the beating! Lets just say I never want to see another pine needle in my life! While digging through rocks, trying to get all the pine needles out I knew there were going to be snakes, YEIKS, So I was on edge almost the whole time! I moved a rock and AHHHH I see a "Snake" (I cannot scream due to the fact that I have a head cold and lost my voice so it was more of a sissy squeak then a scream!) My mom and Aunt come over to finish what I was doing behind this rock. My fearless aunt reaches down this rock and pulls out a very rare very scary PINE CONE!!!!! Wow I felt stupid!!!!! So I get back to work after a good laugh! I keep digging through the rocks with gloved hands clearing out all the pine needles when BAM a snake latterly JUMPS out at me! Of course I scream (Squeak), run, and try to catch my breath. My cousin Tia comes over grabs the snake and carries it off, what a brave little girl!!!

We stayed at my aunt and Uncles' house in Blanding. Greg and I and both the Girls had TONS of fun!!!! We love small towns, if we could we would live in a small town we would. When we were not at my Grandparents house/property we were at the Bleaks house. We went and played softball, which Aliesha loved hitting the ball and running the bases. Even though I am not good at the sport I love playing it, especially with the family! We went and got some shakes, Which were SUPER good! That night the adults went and played racquetball, this game is SO much fun. It's a lot to think about so if you're not good at multi-tasking then it'll take sometime to get used to (I am one of those who do not multi-task). But Greg and I love this game. we want to keep playing it. We've gotta find a rec center that has the court, and need to find the time, and we can go practice and play! I just want to say a big THANK YOU to my Aunt and Uncle for their hospitality! Thanks for letting us stay at your house and make a big mess! Aliesha is still talking about Uncle Loren reading to her! And she loves her new books. She's been in her room laying on her bed reading them as much as possible!

P.s. I did bring our camera but I didn't take pics... DUH... So I'm going to see if I can have my sister bring her camera over so I can grab some pics.

I love all of her snappy come-backs and her "I-don't-care-what-you-say-or-think" attitude!

Party!!!

So, yesterday(May 13th) was my Dad's birthday. He turned the big  5. 0. My sister and I with the help of my mom and two other sisters planned a surprise party for him today (May 14th). We had been planning this party for 2-3 weeks. We invited close to 50 people! So the day came and it went over so well. My dad was totally surprised! He pulled up with  my mom and sister and the look on his face was of total surprise! :) He didn't have a clue as to what was going on! Haha It was great. Here's some pic's of the party. Thanks for all those who made it! We had tons of fun!

My dad's cake, I crushed some oreo's to make it look like dirt... Clever?
Some of the people who came to say happy birthday!
 A sign.
The Kids had a blast playing basketball!
All of us singing happy birthday to my Dad.

The party was really fun, almost everyone we invited showed up. Even though my dad doesn't really like surprises or being in the spotlight I think he enjoyed himself. I think...

Talent?

I have a really good friend who is so creative and really talented, I mean she could try something once and it would be perfect! She's so full of talent! Then I looked at myself and there isn't nearly as half of the talent she has. So it got me thinking, well what am I doing to help me see what my talents are? So I've started a quilt. In high school I danced, I've tried to exercise, scrapbook, decorate, make cakes, bake, in Jr. high I tried violin, I've tried Make-up, hair, and tried to make bows for my girls' hair, etc.

So let me tell you what I think talent is.

Talent to me is trying something for the very first time and being good at it. Talent is something that comes effortlessly, something that's natural, second-nature.

Now with all the things I have tried I have had/have to work hard, and I soon become discouraged because I'm still not good at whatever I'm trying at the moment. For Dance I had to work hard, I mean work my BUTT off just to get where I was my senior year. I was good Really good.  For my concert I was in four dances three of them with my three different dance classes I had, and one was my duet I tried out for, with a good friend. Well the other day I popped in the DVD's of my concert and watched my dance... I wasn't as good as I thought I was, it totally upset me to see that I wasn't good. Now I'm just really bummed out cause the one talent I thought I had, I really didn't have the talent for. For one I worked so hard I had three classes and yet I wasn't that good. With my quilting I thought I would be really good at it, I enjoy doing it but as soon as I finished my blocks I measured the blocks and none of them were the same size! My aunt always reminds me that there was only one perfect man on the earth and none of us are him, which I totally get, but it's still really discouraging to think that you're going to be good at something and then, BAM, you realize you're not good at it.

I know they say Practice makes perfect. Practice, practice, practice.... Bla, Bla, Bla. But If it's talent shouldn't you be good at it right from the start?
